4ª Riunione Plenaria sull’Etica per l’IA

4th Plenary Meeting on Ethics for AI

From July 9 to 11, the Center for Digital Culture, of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, in collaboration with the De Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture at the University of Notre Dame, will host in the US the 4th plenary meeting of Ethics for AI. Approximately 23 scholars from prestigious U.S. universities will participate in this event.

The primary objective of the meeting is to complete the phase of research, collection, and structuring of content, paving the way for the review and editing of two upcoming publications scheduled for the end of the year. These publications will focus on the impact of AI on human agency and neuroscience, and AI and education from a Catholic perspective.

As part of the program, a public session titled Catholic Social Doctrine and AI will be held one of the days under a panel discussion format. In this session, group researchers will engage with external experts of the University of Notre Dame to test the adequacy of the work done during these two years as well as to enrich the messages and study for the future.

This meeting strengthens collaboration among group members and highlights the growing interest in addressing the ethical and human challenges posed by the rapid development of AI-based technologies.

4ª Riunione Plenaria sull’Etica per l’IA

Dal 9 all'11 luglio, il Centro di Cultura Digitale del Dicastero per la Cultura e l'Educazione insieme al De Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture presso l'Università di Notre Dame, organizzerà negli USA la 4ª riunione plenaria del gruppo di lavoro sull’Etica per l'IA, a cui parteciperanno circa 23 accademici provenienti da diverse università prestigiose degli USA.

L'obiettivo principale dell'incontro è concludere la fase di ricerca, raccolta e strutturazione dei contenuti, per poi passare alla revisione e all’edizione delle due prossime pubblicazioni previste per la fine dell'anno. I temi di queste pubblicazioni riguarderanno l'impatto dell'IA sull'agenzia umana e le neuroscienze, e dell'IA e l'educazione da una prospettiva cattolica.

Come parte del programma, in uno dei giorni si terrà una sessione pubblica intitolata Dottrina Sociale Cattolica e IA, in formato tavola rotonda. In questa sessione, i ricercatori del gruppo discuteranno con esperti collaboratori dell'Università di Notre Dame, al fine di valutare il valore del lavoro svolto negli ultimi due anni e arricchire i loro contributi in vista di questa e future ricerche.

Questo incontro rafforza la collaborazione tra i membri del gruppo e sottolinea il crescente interesse nell'affrontare le sfide etiche e umane poste dallo sviluppo accelerato delle tecnologie basate sull'IA.
