Digital Cultures
The Centre for Digital Culture (CCD), promoted by the Dicastery for Culture and Education, serves as a place for fostering reflections and dialogue. It seeks to engage those who, from different roles – institutional, academic, political and technical – are interested in the impact of new digital technologies on humanity and contemporary society. Its aim is to share insights and advice on how the technological challenge of digitalisation – which is also cultural and spiritual – can be addressed from an ethical perspective, and how its rapid development can be truly sustainable and placed at the service of humanity. Primary focus will be on the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). The Centre aims to ensure a variety of research approaches, considering both the cultural diversity and the importance of exploring the values of Christian humanism.
