A joint initiative of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, the Pontifical Commission for Latin America, and the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI).

On May 29 and 30, the Holy See will host the international meeting “Maps of Hope for a Regional Educational Agenda: Mental Health, Digital Technologies and Education” : the initiative will bring together ministers of education from Ibero-American countries, together with experts, academics and representatives of international organizations, to reflect on contemporary educational challenges related to mental health, digital technologies and the well-being of younger generations.

Held within the framework of the cooperation between the Holy See and the OEI in response to the call of the Global Compact on Education, the meeting follows the guidelines of Pope Leo XIV’s Apostolic Letter Drawing New Maps of Hope, which proposes the construction of a “global educational constellation” centred on human dignity, public ethics and the responsible use of technologies and artificial intelligence, in line with the recent Encyclical Letter Magnifica humanitas

The sessions will address topics including socio-emotional skills, safe and inclusive school environments, digital citizenship, technological inclusion, and the role of education in fostering democratic dialogue, cooperation and peacebuilding. The initiative also seeks to promote coordinated responses to the emerging challenges affecting educational communities throughout the region.
