The Dicastery for Culture and Education promotes and supports relations between the Holy See and the world of culture, confronting the many emerging instances and fostering intercultural dialogue as an indispensable instrument of encounter, interaction, and enrichment, so that those who work in the arts, literature, science, technology, and sport can recognize themselves and at the same time feel recognized by the Church as being at the service of the sincere search for the true, the good and the beautiful.

The Culture Section also supports the processes of protection, preservation, and public enjoyment of ecclesial realities of the historical, artistic, and cultural heritage promoting the enhancement and protection of local cultures. It coordinates the Pontifical Academies activity, which includes some of the leading international personalities in the theological and humanistic sciences, chosen from among believers and non-believers.
