On Tuesday 21 April 2026, Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, together with the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking official, Fr Benjamín Aguirre, received a cordial visit from the newly appointed Ambassador of Peru to the Holy See, Jorge Ponce San Román.

The meeting provided an opportunity to express a willingness to further strengthen the good relations between the Holy See and Peru.
