Alexia Tala

Alexia Tala. Curadora independiente, investigadora y crítica de arte. Vive entre Chile y Brasil. Actualmente es directora artística de Plataforma Atacama y miembro del comité curatorial del Museo de Arte Moderno de Sao Paulo.

Cuenta con amplia experiencia en la curaduría de bienales en la región. Curadora jefe de la 22ª Bienal de Arte de Paiz en Guatemala. Co-curadora de la I Bienal de Performance de Chile, la VIII Bienal del Mercosur, así como de la IV Trienal Poligráfica de San Juan, América Latina y el Caribe, y la XX Bienal de Arte de Paiz en Guatemala. También concibió LARA (Latin American Roaming Art project) y fue investigadora invitada en el Museo de la Solidaridad de Chile.

Alexia ha comisariado numerosas exposiciones individuales de artistas como Hamish Fulton, Cadu, Regina Silveira y Marcelo Moscheta, entre otros. Ha dado charlas en numerosas instituciones internacionales como Tate Modern, MAM Sao Paulo y Malba entre otros.

También fue curadora de la exposición colectiva «Silent Spring» en Brasil, que reunió a artistas que abordaban cosmovisiones ancestrales y el calentamiento global.

Ha publicado extensivamente en America Latina y el resto del mundo y ha colaborado con ArtNexus, ArtReview, Arte al Día, Artishock entre otros. Ha sido parte del comité editorial de Phaidon para la publicación Latin American Artists lanzada en 2023. Es autora de Installations and Experimental printmaking publicada por Bloomberg ( ex A&C Black) en Londres. Es autora de las monografias de Leonardo Finotti, Glenda León, Francisca Aninat, entre otros.

Alexia Tala. Independent curator, researcher and art critic. Lives between Chile and Brazil and is currently artistic director of Plataforma Atacama and member of the curatorial committee at Museum of Modern Art in Sao Paulo.

She has extensive experience in curating biennials in the region: Chief curator of the 22nd Paiz Art Biennial in Guatemala. Co-curator at the 1st Biennial of performance in Chile, the 8th Mercosur Biennial in Brazil, as well as the 4th Polygraphic Triennial of San Juan, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the 20th Paiz Art Biennial in Guatemala. She also conceived LARA (Latin American Roaming Art project) and was also a guest researcher at the Museo de la Solidaridad in Chile.

Alexia has curated numerous solo exhibitions by artists such as Hamish Fulton, Cadu, Regina Silveira and Marcelo Moscheta, among others. She was also the curator of the group show ‘Silent Spring’ in Brazil, which brought together artists addressing ancestral cosmovisions and global warming. She has lectured at many international institutions such as Tate Modern, Museum of Modern Art Sao Paulo, Malba, among others.

She has published extensively in Latin America and the rest of the world and has collaborated with ArtNexus, ArtReview, Arte al Día, Artishock among others. She was part of Phaidon's editorial committee for the publication Latin American Artists released in 2023.
