Lucía Parias y Sylvia Suárez

Lucía Parias R. (Bogotá, Colombia) es profesora del Departamento de Artes Visuales de la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá, Colombia. Es maestra en Artes Visuales y magíster en Escrituras Creativas. Su práctica articula cerámica, escritura, dibujo e imagen en movimiento, vinculando creación, docencia, investigación en artes y gestión expositiva.

Su trabajo explora la transformación, la inestabilidad de la imagen y las narrativas no lineales, interesándose por las formas en que los seres, los materiales y los relatos cambian sin fijarse en un único significado. Entiende las prácticas artísticas como modos de pensamiento, relación y agencia que emergen desde el hacer.

Actualmente, la escucha ocupa un lugar central en sus procesos, entendida como una disposición ética que permite relacionarse con el mundo en su complejidad sin intentar reducirla o dominarla.

Sylvia Suárez Segura es artista, historiadora del arte, curadora y docente. Su trayectoria se ha enfocado en la historia del arte moderno y contemporáneo de Colombia y América Latina, en especial en la acción gráfica y los movimientos sociales y políticos, en la historia y teoría de la educación artística, y en el estudio de los vínculos entre experimentación artística, educación y construcción de ciudadanía.

Es miembro del grupo de investigación Taller Historia Crítica del Arte, co-fundadora y colaboradora del Observatorio de Poéticas Sociales de la Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano y participa de la comunidad internacional de investigación y creación Red Conceptualismos del Sur. Es Doctora en Arte y Arquitectura – Línea Historia del Arte de Colombia y Latinoamérica de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Magister en Historia y Teoría del Arte, la Arquitectura y la Ciudad y Maestra en Artes Plásticas, de la misma casa de estudios.

En la actualidad es directora de la Carrera de Artes Visuales de la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogotá, Colombia).

Lucía Parias R. (Bogotá, Colombia) is a lecturer in the Department of Visual Arts at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá, Colombia. She holds a Master’s degree in Visual Arts and a Master’s degree in Creative Writing. Her practice combines ceramics, writing, drawing and moving images, linking creation, teaching, arts research and exhibition management.

Her artwork explores transformation, the instability of the image and non-linear narratives, focusing on the ways in which beings, materials and stories change without being fixed on a single meaning. She approaches artistic processes as modes of thought, relationship and agency that emerge from the act of making.

Currently, listening occupies a central place in her processes, understood as an ethical disposition that allows one to engage with the world in all its complexity without attempting to reduce or dominate it.

Sylvia Suárez Segura is an artist, art historian, curator and lecturer. Her career has focused on the history of modern and contemporary art in Colombia and Latin America, particularly on graphic art and social and political movements, on the history and theory of art education, and on the study of the links between artistic experimentation, education and the development of citizenship.

She is a member of the research group Taller Historia Crítica del Arte, a co-founder and contributor to the Observatorio de Poéticas Sociales at Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, and participates in the international research and creative network Red Conceptualismos del Sur. She holds a PhD in Art and Architecture – specialising in the History of Art in Colombia and Latin America – from the National University of Colombia, a Master’s degree in the History and Theory of Art, Architecture and the City, and a Master’s degree in Fine Arts, all from the same institution.

She is currently Director of the Visual Arts Programme at the Pontifical Xavierian University (Bogotá, Colombia).
