CONCILIAZIONE 5 is a space dedicated to contemporary art promoted by the Holy See's Dicastery for Culture and Education: it is a gateway to art and its ability to engage with the major issues of our time in a free and profound way, generating new questions and new thoughts and thus opening up the possibility of transformation, which is significant not only on a cultural and civil level but also on a spiritual level.

The 2026 programme, entitled “Leggere di nuovo” ("Reading Again") – a year-long exploration of the act of reading –is curated by DONATIEN GRAU, and its first featured artist is GEORGE ROUY with the exhibition "Presence in Form".

George Rouy’s work is a layering of images and meanings in which one surface is covered by another, and the figures emerging from the painting become part of a palimpsest. It is an abstract work, representing the canvas as a surface open to signs and symbols that can be freely decoded by the viewer, who is invited to engage with the very act of reading a painting as if it were a text, observing the traces on the canvas that bear the imprint of past and future presences.

The painting is complemented by a sound element, playedon the street once a day and accessible via a QR code, which transforms the work into an auditory and visual experience.
