Michigan State University Sports Journalism visits the Dicastery
On 24 June 2026, the Dicastery for Culture and Education welcomed a group of twenty-five sports journalism students from Michigan State University (United States of America).
In his opening greetings, Msgr.Paul Tighe extended a warm welcome to the visitors, highlighting the importance of journalism in promoting sport. He also highlighted the value of journalistic ethics capable of portraying sport as a force for the good of humanity, giving a voice to smaller events and little-known athletes.
Subsequently, Fr Miguel Cardoso gave a brief presentation on the relationship between the Church and sport, the main interpretative keys to Pope Leo XIV’s recent Apostolic Letter on Sport, Life in Abundance, and the key projects the Dicastery is developing in the field of sports pastoral care.
The meeting concluded with a tour of the Dicastery, led by intern Emma Self.
