Universidade Católica Portuguesa inaugurates its exhibition for the Triennial of Art of the Catholic Universities
The Portuguese edition of the Triennial of Art of the Catholic Universities was inaugurated on 13 October 2026 with an exhibition developed across three venues in the city: Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Brotéria and the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC).
On the occasion, a presentation was held, with speeches by Isabel Capeloa Gil, President of the University, Msgr. Carlo Maria Polvani, Secretary of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, representing Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Prefect of the Dicastery, Alberto Santos, Secretary of State for Culture, and the Patriarch of Lisbon and Grand Chancellor of the University, D. Rui Valério, together with the curators Nuno Crespo, Filipa Oliveira and João Sarmento, SJ.
Titled Retorna a casa (Return Home), the exhibition offers complementary perspectives on the idea of dwelling, with home understood as form, community and space for the body. It portrays returning home as the act of finding again what, despite all change, connects us to others and to the world around us. It is therefore not merely a return to a place of origin.
Open to the public until 14 November at Brotéria, until 12 December at the Fundação Amélia de Mello Gallery, and until 24 January 2027 at MNAC, the exhibition brings together works by the following artists:
