Sheila Gallagher is a Boston-based interdisciplinary artist, educator and curator whose work explores belief, grief, and our relationship with objects and memory. She has had numerous solo exhibitions and has exhibited and performed widely in galleries, museums, and theaters in the U.S. and internationally, including Moving Image Festival, London; Abbey Theater, Dublin; Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston; Gulbenkian Museum, Lisbon; Crystal Bridges Museum, Bentonville, AR. She serves as the director of the Becker Collection, an archive of Civil War drawings that toured major US museums (2012-2016). Her most recent publication, Metaphor, Making, and Mysticism, is a collection of essays published by Routledge, 2025. Gallagher is an Associate Professor of Studio Art at Boston College, where she teaches contemporary art practice and enjoys transdisciplinary collaboration.
